Born in 1980 in Grenada as one of eight children, Johnson Beharry lived in a two-bedroomed hut, surviving on a meagre diet of beans & rice & walking barefoot the three miles to school. At 13 he quit school & worked as a decorator & labourer. In 1999 he scraped together the airfare for England & joined the Prince of Wales' Royal Regiment.
