The "Chancer" of the title was an amazing character. Born in Aberdeen and buried in Macduff, where he made his home, the self-styled "Doctor" Walford Bodie was a showman, hypnotist and illusionist. His popular stage shows revolved around dramatic displays of the then seemingly magical powers of electricity and earned him the title of "Electrical Wizard of the North".
